The U.S. Department of Defense has officially launched generative AI tools for military needs, including ChatGPT Mil from OpenAI and Grok for Government provided by Starshield AI. These features are integrated through the GenAI.mil portal and are designed to provide support for 3 million military and civilian personnel in chatting, document processing, intelligence analysis, and supply chain management. This move is the result of the Pentagon’s decision to cooperate with other technology companies after a disagreement with Anthropic over security safeguards issues.
