“China’s solution” for a new power system for APEC cooperation was released.
On September 7, on the first day of the “APEC Beijing Energy Conference Week,” the “Recommended Solutions for Building a New Power System Adapted to a High Proportion of New Energy” was officially released by the Southern Grid Energy Development Research Institute. Based on the actual conditions of the APEC region, this solution constructs a systematic framework from three dimensions: technology, policy, and cooperation, aiming to provide reference and combinable construction ideas for various economies. The solution proposes suitable support technologies for five aspects: power sources, power grids, loads, energy storage, and digital intelligence. It incorporates China’s mature practices in water-solar integration and ultra-high voltage transmission, and advocates a cross-regional cooperation mechanism based on “mutual learning and win-win outcomes.” Data shows that from 2010 to 2024, the cost of new energy globally decreased significantly, and it is gradually becoming the main energy source. Shan Weiguo, chairman of the APEC Energy Working Group, said that this solution provides a valuable solution for building consensus and deepening regional cooperation.
