“Flexible workers can enjoy maternity insurance”
The National Healthcare Security Administration has taken multiple measures to encourage key groups such as flexible workers to participate in employee medical insurance. Considering the frequent changes in work and location of flexible workers, a series of measures will be introduced in terms of insurance participation and payment. First, it will continue to promote the full elimination of restrictions on insurance registration based on place of employment or permanent residence in megacities. Local governments are encouraged to include flexible workers in the coverage of maternity insurance, allowing them to pay premiums and enjoy benefits according to regulations. Second, efforts will be made to convert the years of contribution required for resident medical insurance into years of employee medical insurance in the local area, with the conversion ratio adjusted to the local financing level. Third, flexible workers who work outside their home regions may participate in employee medical insurance on an annual basis. Their years of contribution can be accumulated monthly, and any零散 payment periods can be included in the total contribution years for employee medical insurance. Once they reach the legal retirement age and meet the required contribution years, they can enjoy retirement medical benefits; any shortfalls will be paid up according to the regulations of the coordinating region.
