On August 10, 2026, Stanford HAI announced the launch of a new funding program. This program aims to systematically study how artificial intelligence technologies will reshape the global security landscape and geopolitical relations.
The Stanford University HAI and Hoover Institute Technology Policy Accelerator launched a new funding program in April 2026, aimed at studying the impact of artificial intelligence on global security and geopolitics. The program invites academic teams to conduct interdisciplinary research, focusing on the role of basic models, agents, and AI systems in detecting nuclear proliferation, Sino-US competition, and political influence. Three selected teams will receive $100,000 each for a one-year research project. These projects will utilize multimodal data to design AI protocols for detecting illegal nuclear facilities, develop bilingual AI interview tools to analyze public opinion, and establish standardized benchmark systems to verify reliability.
