On September 8, 2026, Huawei officially launched the Kirin 950 Pro chip, claiming that it contained no American technology at all. This SoC features self-developed LinxiCore cores, GPU, and NPU, and uses the Tau Scaling architecture to reduce wafer size and improve performance. According to Huawei, the new chip’s performance is 42% higher than that of the previous generation product. Counterpoint predicts that it will account for 24% of the folding phone market in 2026. Although HarmonyOS is already running on 85 million devices, analysts point out that this chip is unlikely to challenge the mainstream smartphone market.
