Tesla officially released the mass-produced model of the Cybercab autonomous electric vehicle in Austin, Texas, USA. Tesla quietly announced yesterday morning that its autonomous taxi model, Cybercab, has been on the roads in Austin. Cybercab features pure visual autonomous driving without a steering wheel, pedals, or rearview mirrors; it only includes a central control screen and two seats. It uses RIM-processed plastic shells, with half the number of parts compared to the Model Y. The total cost of the vehicle is approximately $30,000, and the operating cost per mile is 0.2 dollars, resulting in a net profit of 9 cents per mile. This vehicle is not sold to the public but is used only for the FSD fully autonomous taxi service. It can operate 7x24 hours, automatically charge and clean itself, and requires no manual maintenance. Tesla has developed its own FSD algorithm, taxi-hailing software, insurance, and maintenance services, creating a closed loop. The cost of each vehicle is much lower than that of Waymo (about $110,000), and it does not need to be shared with third parties.
