The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Information and Communication Industry”, proposing to carry out direct satellite applications for existing mobile phones at appropriate times. This plan aims to promote deep integration of low-earth orbit satellite internet with terrestrial 5G/6G mobile communication networks, thereby enhancing the coverage capacity of satellite broadband communication networks worldwide. Specific measures include increasing the capacity of individual satellites to over 100 Gbps, supporting core capabilities such as intersatellite links and on-board processing; establishing satellite-ground interconnection centers to strengthen efficient interconnection of terrestrial and space infrastructure; and deepening commercial trials of satellite IoT to provide wide-area connection services for various devices and vehicles.
