Representatives from 37 countries gathered in Beijing; the seminar on artificial intelligence capacity building began.

On September 7, 2026, the “Artificial Intelligence Capacity Building Seminar” hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officially began in Beijing. High-level government representatives and core policymakers from 37 southern countries around the world gathered to participate in a six-day intensive exchange. The seminar aimed to implement the “Inclusive Plan for Artificial Intelligence Capacity Building,” covering four key areas: AI security governance, technological frontiers, application practices, and international cooperation. It included 9 specialized lectures, 6 field visits, and 1 roundtable discussion. The participants focused on the global “intelligence gap” issue, with China emphasizing that countries should develop their AI industries based on their national conditions and improve governance systems to narrow the gap. Foreign guests highly recognized China’s efforts to help developing countries overcome their shortcomings through technology sharing and talent training. Additionally, the participants will visit innovative institutions such as the Beijing General Artificial Intelligence Research Institute to gain an in-depth understanding of China’s comprehensive AI development system.
