HTC launches VIVE Eagle round-frame AI glasses; its mobile business is temporarily placed second in priority
On September 3, HTC announced in Taipei that it would introduce a round-frame version of its AI smart glasses, VIVE Eagle, and upgrade its software features. These products will be launched in European, North American, and Australian markets. This move marks HTC’s strategic shift towards AI and XR technologies. Huang Zhaoying, senior vice president of the company, said that smartphones can no longer achieve breakthrough innovations, and the U24 Pro will come to an end of its product cycle by the end of this year. The smartphone business will be placed second in importance. Although the smartphone business is not completely discontinued, current resources are being prioritized for AI glasses. It is reported that since the launch of VIVE Eagle in 2025, its revenue exceeded that of the smartphone business in 2026.
