On September 7, 2026, Hangzhou Deshi Bio-tech Co., Ltd. and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University jointly established the “Joint Laboratory for General Artificial Intelligence and Medical Applications” on the campus of the Polytechnic University. Both parties will engage in long-term cooperation in research and application of general artificial intelligence in the medical field, focusing on advancements in medical image analysis, basic medical models, and automation and intelligence of research processes. Zhao Ruhong, Senior Vice President of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, stated that this laboratory is a concrete action to meet national strategic needs. Dr. Song Ning, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Deshi Tech, introduced that the company has achieved a leap from “one model for each disease” to “industrial mass production” of medical AI. By the first half of 2026, Deshi Tech had collaborated with 99 hospitals to train 158 vertical models, covering 43 human organs and 61 disease areas. Dr. Li Yongqi, project leader of the joint laboratory, proposed that they will jointly promote medical AI from the “large model stage” to the era of intelligent agents.
