BYD clarifies: The rumor that “25,000 orders for flash-charging vehicles have accumulated” is false, and production capacity will be sufficient in Q1 2027

In response to the rumor that “BYD has an backlog of orders for flash-charging vehicles totaling 250,000 units,” BYD clarified in its investor relations report that this claim is false. BYD acknowledged that this year, due to limitations in battery production capacity, the flash-charging technology has become extremely popular. Previously, there were reports stating that there was an backlog of orders for vehicles supporting this technology, amounting to approximately 250,000 units, but BYD stated that it plans to achieve sufficient production capacity by the first quarter of 2027. Currently, BYD’s second-generation blade battery can charge from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes, and from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes. As of August 28, BYD had built 10,000 flash-charging stations, with the goal of establishing 20,000 by the end of the year. The existing 10,000 flash-charging stations are located in 332 cities, with 100% coverage in first- and second-tier cities. In core cities like Shenzhen and Shanghai, there is an average of one station every 3 kilometers.
