It is reported that Samsung is expanding production of mid-range and low-end Galaxy A smartphones in response to the “storage price hike trend in the industry,” aiming to achieve “low-profit, high-volume sales”.
Samsung plans to produce approximately 33.7 million Galaxy A series mid-range and low-end phones between August and November, accounting for 58% of the total production during that period. The expansion focuses on the Galaxy A17 and the upcoming Galaxy A18, with the production of A17-related models making up about 53% of the total planned production for the entire Galaxy A series. In response to the rising prices of memory chips globally and the industry-wide reduction in production of low-profit models, Samsung adopts a “two-pronged approach”: on one hand, it aims to generate high profits through the Galaxy S and Z series; on the other hand, it uses the Galaxy A series to maintain large shipment volumes and achieve “small profits but high volume sales” to strengthen its lead in shipments.
