A Quantum Variational Approach to Prototypical Recurrent Unit
The researchers proposed a lightweight quantum prototype cyclic unit (QPRU), whose parameter count is significantly less than that of classical cyclic architectures such as LSTM and GRU, as well as quantum variants like QLSTM and QGRU. Despite its compact design, the QPRU achieves competitive prediction performance, comparable to state-of-the-art baselines, while also benefiting from enhanced scalability and fewer trainable parameters.
