According to the “Airport Connectivity Index” report released by the International Air Transport Association, Shanghai Pudong Airport ranked first in connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region due to its outstanding performance in 2025. The report was compiled by the International Air Transport Association (Asia-Pacific and Middle East Region) in collaboration with PwC, using indicators such as network size and destination economic weight. The report shows that the level of airport connectivity in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions increased by 11% in 2025. Shanghai Pudong Airport serves 291 destinations worldwide, with passenger traffic exceeding 8.499 million人次, and the transfer rate reached 16.2%. Bai Sinuo, director of the International Air Transport Association (Asia-Pacific and Middle East Region), noted that China’s visa-free policies have facilitated entry and exit, and combined with AI-powered intelligent transportation infrastructure, they have significantly improved the efficiency of airport operations. Despite geopolitical conflicts, airport connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region still demonstrates positive resilience.
