Bunghouse Auction House will hold a special auction this October. The Apple I, with serial number 48, featuring a motherboard bearing Wozniak’s signature and accompanied by Jobs’ personal letter, will be put up for sale. The estimated price ranges from $500,000 to $800,000 (approximately 3.55 million to 5.68 million yuan). This machine was named “Hartfield Apple I” after its first buyer, Fred Hartfield, and its hardware functions are intact. Its history dates back to 1978 when Hartfield rejected Apple’s trade-in proposal, thereby preserving this original model, known in the world to have fewer than 75 units remaining. Previously, this computer was sold for $671,400 after being repaired in 2013, and another functional Apple I was sold for approximately 3.364 million yuan in July this year.
