The mobile app of the US map application MapQuest has risen to first place among navigation apps. The app previously attracted attention for insisting on retaining the name “Lake Ontario” and not adopting the suggestion from indigenous communities to rename it as “Myami Lake”. Despite criticism and pressure, MapQuest ultimately decided to keep the original name, which instead increased its user attention and app downloads, allowing it to take a leading position in the navigation software market.
