Might as well blame AI for this giant Linux release candidate, says Linus Torvalds
Linus Torvalds, the lead developer of the Linux kernel, attributed the unusually large size of Linux 7.3 RC2 to artificial intelligence. This RC2 version contained a large number of commits, far exceeding past norms. Although Torvalds admitted that he couldn’t identify a single exact cause, he pointed out that multiple modules such as EDAC pulling, file system, DRM, networking, and drivers all submitted fixes. He humorously said that last week, during the merge window, he caused trouble by performing system upgrades, which made it more difficult to diagnose issues, but he said that everything eventually worked out well. Torvalds jokingly noted that although no obvious abnormalities were apparent, since artificial intelligence is a hot topic, people might as well consider it a random factor and attribute it to AI.
