After taking up his new role as Chief Technology Officer of Xiaomi Auto, Hu Zhengnan gave his first interview, clarifying that his top priority is to relearn and adapt to the technological changes in the field of intelligent electric vehicles. He pointed out that future intelligent electric vehicles represent a deep integration of new energy, consumer electronics, and information communication technologies; traditional approaches may become ineffective, and new thinking patterns such as AI coding must be embraced along with updated knowledge systems. Although industry safety and reliability standards remain unchanged, Hu Zhengnan emphasized that these standards need to be redefined as advanced end-to-end models evolve. Additionally, regarding the establishment of a research and development center in Europe, Hu Zhengnan described it as a “capability center” responsible for functions such as design, high-performance vehicle development, and luxury product definition, with the aim of attracting top engineers from around the world and accurately understanding European user needs. This center will achieve collaboration between Chinese and European teams by establishing emotional connections, cultural understanding, and a unified work system, and after clear division of responsibilities, jointly complete tasks such as the New York City marathon.
