During the summer vacation, nearly 1 billion passenger trips were made! Why does Chinese train travel win worldwide fans? According to information released by China State Railway Group, the 62-day railway summer transport season has successfully concluded. From July 1 to August 31, national railways sent a total of 954 million passenger trips and 680 million tons of goods, with safe, stable, and orderly railway transportation. After the implementation of the summer train operation schedule, national railways operated an average of 11,623 passenger trains per day. In terms of cross-border passenger transport, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail transported 6.271 million cross-border passengers, and the China-Laos railway transported 56,000 cross-border passengers, a year-on-year increase of 3.3% and 55.8%, respectively. During the summer transport season, national railways sent 4.447 million foreign passengers, a year-on-year increase of 32.2%. The financial results for the first half of 2026 disclosed by China State Railway Group showed that the total revenue for the first half was 589 billion yuan, with a net profit of 1.85 billion yuan.
