On August 27, 2026, Rivian announced that its Chief Financial Officer, Claire McDonald, would leave at the end of October this year. The company stated that this change was due to personal pursuit of new opportunities and a desire to move to the East Coast to be with family, rather than due to internal disagreements. Currently, Rivian is seeking a formal successor; Derek Mulvey, Vice President of Finance, will serve as interim CFO. McDonald joined the company in January 2021, having previously worked at JP Morgan and Fairway Market. She led the joint project with Volkswagen, which plans to invest up to $5.8 billion by 2027. Rivian is advancing its largest projects, including the R2 SUV. The company’s stock has fallen from $78 to $16.80 since its listing.
