US export curbs have reshaped China’s tech scene around ‘chokepoints’: report
Chinese technology companies, in their efforts to go public, are increasingly focusing on areas in Beijing where they aim to reduce their dependence on foreign technologies. U.S. export controls have reshaped the list of companies eligible for listing on China’s stock market. According to Morgan Stanley’s report, about 20% of companies listed on Shanghai’s Science and Technology Innovation Board this year are dedicated to addressing key technological “challenges” facing China, compared to only 8.1% in 2022.
