The LTAP project launched by Databricks has successfully broken the industry’s 40-year-old database rules, achieving the integration of online transaction processing (OLTP) and online analytical processing (OLAP) workloads. By introducing a new architectural design, this solution combines transactional and analytical operations within the same storage engine, aiming to eliminate data redundancy and improve query efficiency, thereby addressing the technical bottleneck that prevented the coexistence of both in traditional databases. Currently, LTAP is still in its early stages, and specific implementation details and performance comparison data need further verification.
