The analysis firm Similarweb released data on web-based AI chatbots traffic in August 2026, showing that ChatGPT’s market share increased to 55.5%, up from 52.7% three months prior. However, it decreased significantly compared to the same period last year (73.3%). During the same period, Gemini’s share doubled to 25.6%, Claude’s share rose from 1.9% to 9.3%, and DeepSeek, Grok, and Perplexity’s shares were 3.4%, 2.4%, and 0.9%, respectively. This data only covers website traffic and does not include mobile applications or other channels, so it cannot fully reflect the actual usage of each AI service.
