Wang Chuanfu of BYD, Yin Tongyue of Chery, Li Bin of NIO, and Xiang Xingchu of Jianghuai rarely appear together. Yin Tongyue responded to the question “Who is Chery’s strongest rival?”
On the evening of September 6, 2026, the University of Science and Technology of China held an event where four leading executives of Anhui-based car companies—Wang Chuanfu of BYD, Yin Tongyue of Chery, Li Bin of NIO, and Xiang Xingchu of Jianghuai—rarely interacted together. Regarding the topic of “the strongest competitors” asked by students, Yin Tongyue responded that in terms of sales volume, they were behind Wang Chuanfu; their high-priced vehicles were not as effective as Xiang Xingchu’s; and the proportion of models priced above 400,000 yuan was lower than Li Bin’s. However, he emphasized the need to surpass past selves. The four executives interacted with students at the event and initiated recruitment. In July this year, Chery Group announced that its global sales had exceeded 20 million units. Yin Tongyue said that from now on, they would no longer focus solely on sales volume but on brand growth, value creation, and technological breakthroughs. Due to industry pressure, Chery produced only 150,000 vehicles domestically this year, resulting in a noticeable decline in sales; however, they had significantly reduced dealer inventory in the first half of the year, and it is expected that performance will recover in the second half. New products such as the newly launched Fengyun A9 will help boost performance.
