China Unicom Fushun Branch, in collaboration with local public security authorities, successfully identified and dismantled an illegal VOIP communication device using its self-developed anti-fraud large model system. Staff members immediately went to verify the situation through line inspections and discovered a set of illegally installed VOIP devices involved in fraud at a concealed location. During the verification, a suspicious person attempted to carry out abnormal activities; staff members reported the incident to the local police station, and the suspect was subsequently arrested. Preliminary verification revealed that the individual was involved in telecommunications fraud, and the details of the fraud have been largely clarified. VOIP devices (also known as “black boxes”) can disguise foreign fraud calls as domestic numbers to reduce victims’ vigilance. In recent years, cases of fraud gangs installing such devices under the guise of “free on-site broadband speed-up” have occurred in many places.
