BMW will launch the new iX1 model in 2028. This model will fully utilize the Neue Klasse new-generation platform and skip intermediate updates. The new car is expected to be officially unveiled in 2027, with rear-wheel drive as standard. The higher-end version will feature dual-motor four-wheel drive, ending the era of front-wheel drive. In terms of range, by using cylindrical batteries (with an energy density increase of about 20%), new-generation electric motors, and optimized aerodynamic design, the single-charge range will be significantly improved. The interior will be equipped with the iDrive X vehicle system featuring a central touchscreen and the Panoramic Vision panoramic vision system. Thanks to the exclusive pure-electric platform, the new car is expected to expand interior space by shortening the front and rear suspensions and lengthening the wheelbase, while maintaining the same body size, and achieving a completely flat floor. The next-generation iX1, codenamed NB5, is expected to be launched in the second half of next year, while the fuel-powered X1 will continue to use the UKL2 platform and undergo updates to extend its lifecycle.
