American drone company Joby Aviation announced its acquisition of its newly established defense business unit for $500 million. This acquisition aims to leverage existing technologies and infrastructure to expand its commercial aviation business, which originally focused on electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (eVTOLs), into the defense sector, thereby creating a more complete business ecosystem.
