Context Windows Don’t Know What’s Still True — I Built a Validity Layer That Does

Researchers point out that although the context window of large language models may technically remain intact, they cannot automatically identify changes or factual updates in the external world. To address this, the authors designed and implemented an “effectiveness layer” to measure the costs and risks associated with actions based on outdated information through deterministic benchmark tests. The study emphasizes that models must be able to distinguish between technical data integrity and the reality of the real world to prevent wrong decisions due to the use of outdated context.
