“RTX 5090 dummy graphics cards scams appeared in Germany: The core memory was removed, and two buyers lost more than 4,000 euros.”

Recently, fraud cases targeting NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards have occurred in Germany. The fraudsters removed the GPU chips and video memory chips, then sold “empty” graphics cards that were unusable at prices far below market rates to victims. Two cases reported by IT Home showed that two buyers purchased used Palit GeForce RTX 5090 GameRock OC graphics cards for 1,800 euros and 2,250 euros respectively, prices significantly lower than the retail prices of new models in Germany. Although the buyers tried to check the invoices and serial numbers in person, they still found that the serial numbers on the graphics cards did not match those on the packaging boxes or that the sellers deliberately removed the serial numbers. With the continued popularity of artificial intelligence, it is difficult for graphics card prices to drop in the short term, and fraudsters use low prices to attract consumers.
