Apple’s first foldable-screen iPhone is scheduled to be officially released early in the morning on September 10th, Beijing time. This project was personally spearheaded by former CEO Tim Cook and dates back to 2016, with the aim of enabling Apple to gain a foothold in the Asian foldable-screen market. The new device will feature a 5.3-inch outer screen and a 7.8-inch inner screen, both supporting a 120Hz refresh rate and in a 4:3 aspect ratio. It will be equipped with the A20 Pro chip based on TSMC’s 2nm process, 12GB of memory, and dual 48-megapixel cameras at the back, with a battery capacity exceeding 5000mAh. To accommodate the foldable hinge, the device supports side fingerprint recognition but lacks Face ID. Due to memory shortages and uncontrolled costs, pricing has increased; the 256GB base model may be priced at $2199, while the higher-capacity version may cost nearly $3000. This launch event will also see the simultaneous release of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
