On August 31, the U.S. Department of Defense signed a 30-month contract worth $37.2 million with the U.S.-based Principal Mineral Company. The purpose of this contract is to enhance the production capacity of Camden Copper, a subsidiary of Principal Mineral, in producing defense-grade electrolytic deposited copper foil (ED). Camden Copper is currently the only defense-grade ED supplier in the United States, and the copper foil it produces is crucial for key defense applications such as advanced radio frequency systems and electromagnetic shielding. This project is funded by the Industrial Base Analysis and Maintenance Program (IBAS), and the Department of Defense has invested a total of $74.9 million in Camden Copper.
